AZMIN KEEPS DOOR OPEN TO PAS DESPITE HADI’S CRANKINESS: ‘CUT TIES OR NOT, WE STILL NEED TO SORT THINGS OUT’
SHAH ALAM – Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali says he is ready to hold a meeting with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang to resolve the differences between PKR and the Islamist party.
The PKR deputy president said that there was a need for the meeting to discuss their ties, especially in Selangor.
”I maintain an open stance on meeting with all the leaders. There’s a need for the meeting. We must have the humility to sit down and hold discussions,” said Azmin.
”There are differences, yes, but I think they can be resolved through discussions and consensus that will be achieved in the meeting,” he added when speaking to reporters after presenting excellent service awards to state civil servants here Tuesday.
Azmin, who returned from his working visit in Taiwan and the Middle East several days ago, said that he had not met with the PAS president since the party’s muktamar.
Recently, delegates at the muktamar offered resounding support to a motion to cut ties with PKR.
Azmin said PKR would continue to mend ties with PAS because he was confident that the Islamist party’s leadership would make the best decisions to save the country and its economy.
”It should be the basis of any decision for PKR, Pakatan Harapan or any political party outside Barisan Nasional,” he added.
Meanwhile, Azmin said that the appointment of a new commissioner for PAS in Selangor was ”the right move” to ensure better focus on the preparation for the next general election.
Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad has been replaced by central committee member and Sabak Bernam assemblyman Sallehen Mukhyi.
A press conference is expected later at the Selangor PAS liaison committee office to officially announce the appointment.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan reportedly said that the new line-up for the party’s central committee was not connected to issues with the Selangor state government.
He said Iskandar, who is also the party vice-president, was replaced to enable him to focus on prepping the state for the next election.
