IPOH – The 2008 political tsunami proved to be a real lesson for Barisan Nasional and the coalition hopes it will not be repeated in the coming general election, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi .
The Deputy Prime Minister, who was speaking at a Barisan function at Dataran MBI here, reminded everyone how Barisan they lost control of Perak for almost 11 months after the 2013 General Election.
“Push your differences aside. We lost power for 11 months and I remember that time vividly,” he said adding that he did not want it to happen again.
“We must take care of our MB (Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir) and in return, he will take care of you.
“If we hold on to this spirit till the general election, we can surely regain some of our lost seats,” Dr Ahmad Zahid said when launching Barisan Youth’s Job Expo and Aman BN initiative on Saturday.
He also reminded Barisan coalition members to be united at all times to ensure it does well in GE14.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said work for should start now instead of waiting for the dissolution of Parliament and state assemblies.
“We must start now, we must understand the people and work as a team.
“We may have differences of race, religion and language, but for the sake of BN, we shall unite and make our presence felt,” he rallied the crowd.
