PETALING JAYA – Tropicana Corp Bhd is targeting more than RM1.2bil in property sales for this year, backed by new launches and affordable home projects.
Group chief executive officer Datuk Yau Kok Seng said for this year Tropicana was planning to launch RM1.6bil of property projects, focusing on landed residential houses, shophouses and high-rise affordable homes.
“The affordable home segment is new for the group. For the pilot project, we are targeting to launch 766 units this year located in our existing township projects,” he told reporters after the company’s shareholders meeting on Tuesday.
On the pricing of the affordable units, Yau said it would be below half a million ringgit and it would be in strata-title apartment units.
“The demand now is landed houses as well as urban affordable homes,” he said.
For the first quarter ended March 31, 2017, Tropicana saw its net profit more than double to RM32.52mil from RM15.17mil a year ago.
Its revenue for the quarter grew 33% to RM381.9mil from RM286.9mil.
The group attributed the growth in its topline and bottomline to strong sales in its property projects and the advanced progress of construction in many of its ongoing projects.
