KOTA KINABALU: An Indian citizen visiting Sabah with his foster family fell from his 12th-floor hotel room here this morning.

Police believe 24-year-old Hitesh Oswal was depressed and had a family problem in India.

The tourist is believed to have jumped from his room at the hotel and landed on the fifth floor, said Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP M Chandra.

Police suspect no foul play in the death at 2.30am.

The Indian citizen, who had an address in Rajasthan, India, had arrived in Sabah with his foster family three days ago, Chandra said.

The body was brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here for a post-mortem.

The Indian High Commission has been notified.
